Max Sahara

I have a short story I would like to share with you. It all started with a chance meeting of a rescue dog that was trained to become a service dog for a friend of mine. When I met him I was very shy having recently going through house fire, and ending a relationship. Afraid most days to go out of my house. The same time my friend was having a problem.  The place she worked made her leave Max at home for whatever there reasons may be.
So there we were, him wanting to work and not being allowed, and me afraid to go anywhere alone. In a matter of no time with him by my side my fears all but vanished. We were proud to be out together. I learned how much having a service dog could do for me.
When I finally decided to look for a service dog of my own he went with me and helped pick her out. She walked straight and tall right beside him from there first meeting.
Happy endings for Max, his mom is now retired from her job. He gets to spend every day all day with the mommy he loves so much. With my eternal love for this most special boy who did so much for me. Unfortunately Max fell ill and his life ended on May 3rd, 2004, but his memory lives on for all of us and in China. We will see him again one day when we meet at the Rainbow Bridge.

I dedicate this website to Max's memory...

Max won this award shortly before he passed on.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
